Notes
This stage has been in the Penton family for several generations. It was built by Peter Penton using lumber that was hewn by hand from logs cut in Boyd’s Cove and brought by trap skiff to Joe Batt’s Arm. The stage was used to make and store salt cod and to store fishing gear and small boats. It was also used as a place to build boats. The stage was also a gathering place for men in the neighbourhood. Here many stories were told, many recitations were shared and many debates occurred.
