Bailey’s Cove Church of England School was designated a Registered Heritage Structure by the Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador in 1997 because of its historic and aesthetic value.

Bailey’s Cove Church of England School has historic value because of its associations with early education in Newfoundland. Completed around 1880, the Church of England School in Bailey’s Cove remained in use until the 1940s. It stands as a reminder of the formative days of organized education in the region.

Bailey’s Cove Church of England School has aesthetic value as its style, design and construction technique are typical of early Anglican schools in Newfoundland. The simple one-room design draws upon elements of Gothic Revival, such as the use of pointed arch windows and verticalism.
