Note: First and second pictures taken after restoration, third picture taken before restoration.
The lumber that was used to construct this stage was salvaged from a ship that was wrecked at Grassy, Forteau. For example, the hatches from the wreck were used to deck over the wharf. The building was used for salting cod, herring and salmon, to store seals, as a shelter for a sawmill, as a place to build boats and as a place to mend twine and make cod traps. Fishermen also gathered here to spin yarns and tell stories. It was restored with the help of the Fisheries Heritage Preservation program in 2010.
