Notes
Pottle’s Stage is a wooden one storey mid pitch roofed building clad in vertical plank board. It was constructed circa 1890. Adam Pottle (1846-1930) used the stage for inshore fishing activities. When Adam retired he passed the stage on to his son Francis (1880-1965). Francis fished in partnership with George Batson and used the stage until 1957, when it was sold to Edgar and Ruben Penney. The Penney brothers used the stage until 1972, when it was bought by Harold Hiscock, who used it until the cod moratorium in 1992 and eventually sold it in 2003.
