Notes
This building was built to store fishing gear and equipment. However, as time went on, more and more fishermen gathered at the store on stormy days to talk about fishing, going in the woods, the weather, horses and politics. Since many an election was ultimately decided there, the old store was finally dubbed “The House of Commons.” The store was the inspiration for a couple of poems and songs. One was called “The House of Commons” and another was called “The Japanese Jigger.”
