Notes
This stage was built by Whitfield McGrath in Pope’s Harbour in 1964. It was used for cleaning and salting fish. It was moved to New Bonaventure in 1971. The walls of the stage were sawed in sections and taken by boat from Pope’s Harbour to New Bonaventure, where it was rebuilt. The stage was used by Mr. McGrath until he retired from the fishery in 1992. It was then used by his son-in-law Gerald Miller to salt cod during the food fishery and to store salt herring during the lobster fishery. The slipway attached to the stage is used to haul up boats.
