Notes
This fishing stage was originally built on Ireland’s Eye Island by Joseph Hodder in the 1920s. When the Island was resettled in the 1960s he tore down the stage and brought it with him to New Bonaventure, where he rebuilt it in the exact location where it stands today. The structure still has all of the original beams and boards that were used when it was built in Ireland’s Eye. Traditional wooden roof shingles were installed with assistance from the Fisheries Heritage Preservation Program.
