Notes
George Pennell Stage is located in Change Islands at the centre of town and can be seen from the north side of the tickle. The land on which the stage sits was originally granted to Benjamin Taylor in 1899 and was later sold to George Pennell. It was sold to George Fancy in 1946. Both Pennell and Fancy used the stage to process and store salt cod. Other fishermen in the community would also use the stage when their own buildings were full. Peter LeDrew was one fisherman who used the stage every year. Restoration work began in 2009. The roof was repaired and shingled, two windows were restored, the wooden walkway was replaced leading to the stagehead and at the front of the stage. The sliding doors at the front were replaced, as well as the double doors at the rear, while all siding was repaired and the entire structure restained.
