Notes
The store on Hackett’s Point has a history dating back to the late 1800s, when it served as a general store. Dried cod was traded here and it also served as a post office. The premises belonged to Michael and Jerry Hackett. Michael had no children and Jerry had one daughter Jane, who married Walter Penton. The stage next to the store was reconstructed from an old stage owned by the Hackett’s. The descendants of Jane and Walter Penton continued to use these buildings for the inshore fishery.
