Notes
NOTE: Caines Stage was destroyed by tropical storm Fiona on September 24, 2022.
Caines Stage was built by the Caines family in 1921 and was used in the fishing industry for three generations. All the lumber used in the building was cut and prepared locally. It was built using wooden pegs rather than nails. Typical of many traditional outbuildings and homes along the south coast, the stage is clad in wooden shingles. Restoration of the stage was completed in 2009 with the help of Heritage NL’s Fisheries Heritage Preservation Program.
