Heritage Value
Elizabeth Manor has been designated a municipal heritage building by the City of St. John’s for its aesthetic value. It is a beautiful example of a Second Empire style building. It has a Mansard roof with bonnetted dormers. The second story has cantilevered bow windows and dentils and there are brackets along the eaves line. Each bow window has moulded fascia boards and a unique curved detail at the underside of the windows. The main floor features 2 three-paned windows with a curved detail linking the tops of these windows with the bows located just above. The main entrance has a heavy bracketed entablature with pilasters, a transom, dentils and side lights. The house is sheathed in narrow wooden siding and it has wide corner boards and returned eaves.
