Notes
Roland Cave Stage is a wooden, gable-roofed fisheries building, supported by wooden shores. The building has an interesting history, having first been built as the back kitchen for Roland Cave’s home in Granfer’s Cove. He sold it to Fredrick Powell and it was floated to Red Rock Cove. There he used it as a fishing stage, and when he moved to the Main Tickle he towed it there. Owners Roy and Edna (daughter of Fredrick Powell) applied for the Fisheries Heritage Preservation Program (FHPP) in 2007 so that they could restore the old stage, which they estimated to be about 150 years old. It needed new floorboards, sill, roof boards and shingles, flashing and new clapboard. Work commenced throughout the summer; the roof was repaired with new felt and boards and the structure was given a new floor.
